Have we got it wrong on dysphoria? Abigail Thorn discusses trans healthcare

I would prefer to centre desire and will when talking about transition. To me, transition is more than meeting a medical need, just like crossing the Rubicon was more than Caesar getting his feet wet. It’s taking your life in your hands and shaping it yourself. I think that’s beautiful. I didn’t transition to “alleviate my dysphoria,” I transitioned because I fucking wanted to. Who is the state, or a doctor, to tell me I can’t?

Chest binding; organisations who provide safety information are a “beacon of light”

With all the talk of chest binders after mainstream media took aim at them and Mermaids UK we are seeing the same pattern. The voices of those actually affected by the issues are not being heard. Correcting that for Trans Writes is Keith Ramsted with his chest binding story about the need for harm reduction;

Posie Parker was allowed in Australia, lets make sure her ideology isn’t

"We need to talk more about the ideology which Posie Parker tried to import at her Let Women Speak event in Victoria, Australia", writes LilahRPG - who was part of the counter protest.

Bi Visibility Day 2023 and why it’s important to me as a non-binary trans...

In 1990 ‘Bisexual Pride Day’ was declared on 23rd June at the first ‘National Bisexual Conference’ in San Francisco, US, with the Mayor "commending the bisexual rights community for its leadership in the cause of social justice.” 9 years later, the beginnings of Bi Visibility Day start to take shape.
The NHS logo; who are responsible for trans healthcare in the UK and its failings

Describing trans healthcare in the UK as in crisis in 2023 is “an understatement”

To say that the NHS is in crisis right now would be something of an understatement. Writes Alexis Chilvers as part of our push to raise the voices of trans people on trans healthcare in the UK in 2023.

For Women Scotland case lost, what does it mean?

For Women Scotland case has been lost. This was an appeal in which they argued that women with a GRC should not be considered of the female sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. The judgment of the Inner House of the Court of Session - Scotland’s highest court - held that a trans woman with a GRC falls within the definition of ‘woman’ for the purposes of section 11 of the Equality Act 2010, which protects against discrimination on the basis of sex.

Miss Major Speaks: Conversations with a Black Trans Revolutionary review

As a Black trans person and long-time resident of San Francisco, I was excited for the opportunity to review Miss Major Speaks. While I haven’t had the honor of meeting Miss Major Griffin-Gracy in person, I have met and worked with many trans folks whose lives she has touched, several of whom are named in the book’s Acknowledgements.

What does Census 2021 say about trans people?

Trans people live in diverse communities, intersecting ethnicity, age, disability, religion and sexuality. This is not news, but the Office for National Statistics released fresh data comparing the gender identities of people in England and Wales with key demographics which were recorded in Census 2021.

Equality Act and the awful anti-trans debate in UK Parliament

On Monday 12 June, MPs met in Westminster Hall for a three hour debate on the definition of sex in the Equality Act 2010. A contentious debate that had been bubbling up for several months. Moss writes;
