As a nonbinary person “I watched in horror” during Parliament’s nonbinary legal recognition debate

The untold damage to the psyche of those of us in the Section 28 Generation has yet to be genuinely explored; but it might explain why many of us in the 35-50 age bracket who now understand ourselves to be nonbinary watched in horror as the parliamentary “debate” on nonbinary recognition unfolded. A ghostly recreation of the ignorance, dismissiveness, whataboutery and speculative fiction that led so many of us to be left without any guidance or support in the 80s; let alone reassurances that there was nothing wrong with us.

All trans masc football team; “we made history here”

"As I led the first ever all trans masc football team in Europe onto that pitch to thunderous applause, all my worries melted away. It didn’t matter what the score was; it didn’t matter if I left the field covered in mud and smelling like the Year 9 boys PE changing room. We made history here."

LGBT Cons Ally of the Year is… Penny Mordaunt… really?

During the Conservative Party conference held in Birmingham this year, former leadership candidate and MP for Portsmouth North Penny Mordaunt was presented with the award for ‘Ally of the Year’ by the Tory LGBTQ+ group called the LGBT Conservatives.

Miss Major Speaks: Conversations with a Black Trans Revolutionary review

As a Black trans person and long-time resident of San Francisco, I was excited for the opportunity to review Miss Major Speaks. While I haven’t had the honor of meeting Miss Major Griffin-Gracy in person, I have met and worked with many trans folks whose lives she has touched, several of whom are named in the book’s Acknowledgements.
A representation of trans joy via International Mr Leather #29, at the Chicago Theater, 2007. The photo shows men wearing various assortments of leather, one has his butt cheeks on display in assless chaps.

Pure trans joy is dancing & butts

Look, lots of people post things they call trans joy but they’re just celebrating having queer friends (set the bar higher!) or consuming other trans people’s creative content (cool, but make your own!). Those things are fun and all, but have you ever tried really living in your body and thriving in it?

Scottish democracy and the fight for trans rights

On the 20th of December, I sat down in the Scottish Parliament viewing gallery watching Scottish democracy at work. Almost every MSP sat in the chamber preparing to debate one of the most disputed issues of the last five years - reforms to the Gender Recognition Act.

Mars Vice is the Gay, Trans, Furry, Anti-cop Space Adventure game I Can’t Wait...

Described by project lead Ruairí as an “Anti buddy cop” adventure, the narrative heavy game follows Anaya and Dax through the world of Mars Vice where bodies are available, to those who can afford them...

Why the ‘Gays for Gaza’ position makes perfect sense

With the Israeli government’s ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank approaching a third month, and with the war crimes growing ever more flagrant, frequent and egregious, it is perhaps expected that the propaganda war would also begin to intensify. Bad faith arguments abound, nakedly dishonest justifications are wheeled out without anything even approaching the commensurate degree of shame, and attacks on those expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people are stepped up by those running interference for these atrocities.
Two people holding placards at a Kill The Bill protest in Reading. One placard reads; "PROTECT! Gypsy, roma and traveller communities, sex workers, disabled people, trans folk, black youth, working class women and the right to protest". The second sign reads "You strip us of our rights we strip that "PRITI" smile off your face. Power to the people".

Sex workers make trans activism; lets remember to honour them

Sex workers are often over looked in more mainstream conversations surrounding trans liberation. We shouldn't forget that trans activism was and is still built by sex workers, Felix Fern writes;

NHS England’s proposal to ban puberty blockers for trans youth

NHS England (NHSE) is holding a public consultation on a proposal to ban puberty blockers for transgender children. The consultation is open until November 1st. This article will explain the proposal in some detail with the aim of providing guidance for respondents. It will also explain the general context of NHSE’s treatment of trans patients so allies and activists who are not up to speed on the situation in the UK can understand what is happening and what must be done.
