A striking image of the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest lit up at night. It looks positively glowing.

‘What’s in a name?’ As a Hungarian trans man, I can tell you: Everything...

When you take away someone’s name, you take away their right to live their life peacefully: their right to work, to study, to interact with others, and even to consume products and services without having to share their personal (and medical!) history with complete strangers.

Scotland Announces GRA Reform Proposal

It removes the need to have anything signed off by a doctor, it opens it up to 16 year olds and the wait is cut down significantly from 2 years to 3 months. Though it is still an arbitrary wait nonetheless which could certainly be improved by simply not existing at all.

Bridging hormones; why do transphobes want you furious about it?

Attempting to manufacture yet more anti-trans panic, The Telegraph ran a story regarding 'bridging hormones', which is short for a doctor prescribing you medication for harm reduction purposes. According to The Telegraph this basic harm reduction strategy is bad, because transgender.

EHRC announce single-sex exemptions guidlines, they suck!

So far this language and the severity of the concept has helped to stave off attempts by transphobes to employ single-sex exemptions with a blanket approach. Meaning it can only be employed on a case-by-case basis and there must be a truly legitimate aim. However Kishwer Falkner's EHRC has been making moves to support transphobic groups who would like to see the exemptions employed more liberally.

Irresponsible British media reporting incites panic over youth gender clinic replacement

Following the interim Cass report; advice suggested closing Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic for transgender youth and replacing it with regional services. British media have chosen to report on this in the worst way possible and sought comment almost exclusively from anti-trans activists.

Nick Cohen suspension blamed on trans people by The Telegraph

In a piece written for The Telegraph by Ben Woods it is claimed that Nick Cohen has been suspended from The Observer following a trans rights row. Whereas this is chronologically correct, it isn't really the whole story.

‘Include Mx’ campaigner asks Argos “Why fly the flag, when you dont have inclusive...

And they're entirely right. It is a classic example of pinkwashing and I think we should call it out. Making this extremely minor change to how their database records user details would likely take less than a few hours work. There is no excuse for having not done this, especially given the multiple attempts by campaigners like Tom, the general push for more non-binary inclusivisity in society elsewhere and the fact that by flying the pride flag during June they want you to think they are supportive.

He also used slurs for transgender people and stated "there is no such thing as gender identity".

Equalities Minister Mike Freer’s bumbling resignation as UK Government collapses

I see this for what it is, a cynical political move designed to support the (now successful) ousting of a crap Prime Minister by those like Mike Freer. It has nothing to do with constituents, supporters, LGBT+ people, diversity or Margaret Thatcher's evil bones. It has everything to do with playing the game and making sure there's still a Tory party after the end of all this scandal. All so they can all keep their nice cushy jobs blowing smoke up each other's arses and paying lip-service to their job titles.
