The world is not kind to trans people right now. From news to opinion pieces to comedy specials, it can feel like we’re in our own form of an apocalypse. But we can learn from Elliot Page and from Viktor, and not let that stop us from finding our authenticity and those moments of joy.
Taking to Twitter JK Rowling wrote: "I'm afraid I can't give a shout out to everyone promising to murder me - there are so many of you, and I'm a busy woman - but this one deserves a mention for the nineties rave vibe, @TrustFundOzu". I for one just wish she would post one that is a legitimate threat of violence and not like... some random child posting a bugs bunny meme.
Get The L Out, who are widely described as anti-trans, have once again attempted to lead the parade during Pride while holding signs supporting trans exclusion. They were asked to leave and have obviously not taken it well.
I do not care to weigh in on the discourse surrounding single-sex schools in general, but I am telling you that in my experience at an all-girlls school I was not protected from sexism, gender conformity, or transness (even before this became the boogeyman in the UK). Teaching LGBTQIA+ topics is an absolute must in helping equip students to understand and protect themselves from the experiences such as mine.
Twitch streamer Clara Sorrenti, also known as Keffals, has been under siege from users of a cyberstalking website after she had armed police raid her home due to a fraudulent email. Sorrenti began #DropKiwiFarms to get CloudFlare to stop hosting the site.
The debate was attended by so many, from different parties and nations. Yet all came to the same conclusion: conversion “therapy” is abuse. The overrepresentation of LGB+ MPs (the only openly trans MP, Jamie Wallis, was not present) shows that as much as the media attempt to divide us, we are a united community.
Framing, its fun for all the family! The result of the Allison Bailey tribunal is out and transphobes are already claiming a win, with Allison herself having repeatedly posted the hashtag #AllisonBaileyWins.
Kevin Lister, a teacher from Swindon, was fired and is now taking legal action against his former school. He was fired regaridng his treatment of a transgender student.
After anti-trans groups, some who have notably said some very awful things themselves, complained to the BBC about comments made by former MMA fighter, Fallon Fox; the BBC apologised. Just like that! No protests, months of organising or appealing ECU decisions necessary! Weird!
There have already been attempts from transphobes to blame this on trans people. We have seen comments wherein people take aim at gender neutral language, such as "people who can get pregnant". The argument being that not using the word "woman" has made things more difficult, confusing and harder to argue. However I haven't used the word "woman" in this piece even once, and don't plan to. It's not only women who require access to abortions and abortions should be accessible for all those who need them.
