The Sunday Times managed to contort themselves into all sorts of shapes this weekend in order to write about Eddie Izzard without using any pronouns.
The Daily Mail, Times and Telegraph all produced lot of trans-focused content in their Saturday editions and most of it is horrible.
Another week, another series of articles talking nonsense about trans people in the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, and Times.
The horrendous news that the memorial to transgender people was urinated on by multiple people before being irreparable damaged was not covered by any of the national newspapers in the UK
Following the interim Cass report; advice suggested closing Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic for transgender youth and replacing it with regional services. British media have chosen to report on this in the worst way possible and sought comment almost exclusively from anti-trans activists.
So yeah, Rachel Reeves, if you have a problem with transgender women using the bathroom or changing areas? Then you can wait outside. As can any other transphobe. I am not asking for permission to use women's spaces, I am asserting my rights to not be discriminated against for being transgender.
So what happened is that a few people on the internet saw Halifax make an inclusive gesture - during pride month, when brands tend to do that sort of stuff - and got upset about it online. The media then got involved to amp up the story and try to make it into a moment by writing about and sharing it widely via their platforms. Owen Jones criticised the original piece for having not done journalistic due diligence of including comment from the school or those accused of allegedly having ousted this 18 year old from sixth-form for being transphobic, who I remind you are students at an all girls school and sixth-form. He asked for someone from that school to reach out with comment or statement. Not least due to the fact that The Times have had to issue multiple corrections for poor journalistic practice in the past, including on trans issues in particular.
