Around the world transgender people face discrimination, prejudice, harassment, abuse, sexual violence and even attempts on our lives. The transphobic moral panic coming out of English speaking countries is only ramping tensions up and making things more unsafe for those in coutnries that were already not safe. Internationally, transgender people are in danger and I for one welcome this initiative to help people escape that wherever possible.
At first there was mixed feelings due to concerns about safety, not least as many of us faced harassment when we joined the ‘end SARS’ protest in 2020. Eventually we agreed. We are so tired of hiding, running away and living in fear; we had to do something and so we planned a protest for May 1st 2022. The first ever protest of its kind to be held in Nigeria!
The line-up for the event is set to have "many more" guests will be revealed as events unfold. Starting 4:00pm EST April 29th and continuing on April 30th 2022 (Which is 8pm in GMT and 9pm in BST.) The fundraiser is ran through the Tiltify program used by creators such as JackSepticEye for his annual #Thankmas campaigns. Keffals has already reached $2,865.11 of her $10,000 goal at time of writing, before the stream has even started!
