Queer people with every reason to fear new UK Cabinet
As Liz Truss announced her cabinet on Tuesday night, our worst fears were realised. It was clear - the far right think tanks had completed their silent coup.
Penny Mordaunt isn’t our best option for Prime Minister, she’s yours Jayne
Jayne Ozanne writes in Pink News that Penny Mordaunt is "by far and away the best" candidate and that Jayne believes Penny "is a true champion of all the LGBT+ community". Which is just wrong. She isn't our best candidate, she's yours Jayne. By which I mean semi-wealthy white cisgender queers. She's got your back, and judging by your endorsement of her after her tirade? Clearly you're fine with sticking the knife in ours if it means you don't have to look over your shoulder so much any more.
Nick Fletcher MP sends transphobic rant to schools
The evidence is clear, UK transphobia is ramping up its efforts in targeting trans youth in particular. I spoke with numerous children's charities month ago who told me they were "not prepared" to give comment on these issues because its a sensitive area which they need to get it right on.
LGBT Conservatives candidate compares trans people to Nazis
Not to be one-upped by his partner, Alex decided to get his own slice of the controversy by posting his own image comparing trans people to Nazis. This time using the map from 'Dad's Army' which shows the Nazi advance towards the UK, with the flags edited to show the pride rainbow flag in the UK and the Progress Pride flag chevrons invading from Germany. With the caption "the rainbrow pride flag is OK as it is. The trans pride flag is OK as it is. No extra symbols needed."

So they sort-of debated the idea of non-binary representation, but mostly didn't. Instead opting to just do fearmongering and spread hateful rhetoric through parliament. Democracy! The whole thing wraps up with them patting themselves on the back for a job well done and deciding not to move forwards with any plans to include non-binary people in our legal system.
Boris Johnson speaks on trans conversion therapy ban
Speaking to a Daily Mail report in Welwyn Garden City, Johnson said he was sad about the decision made by the LGBTQIA+ sector to boycott Government. He asserts his allyship, noting his involvement in passing the gay marriage bill and being enthused about flying pride flags over government buildings even in countries that don't share 'our values'. He did not comment on his infamously homophobic statements, such as "tank-topped bumboys".
EHRC announce single-sex exemptions guidlines, they suck!
So far this language and the severity of the concept has helped to stave off attempts by transphobes to employ single-sex exemptions with a blanket approach. Meaning it can only be employed on a case-by-case basis and there must be a truly legitimate aim. However Kishwer Falkner's EHRC has been making moves to support transphobic groups who would like to see the exemptions employed more liberally.
Asking for LGBTQ+ tolerance is not enough
As Arlene Foster, former Northern Ireland first minister, was made a Dame in the Queen's latest honours list, it reminded me of a speech...
