Penny Mordaunt isn’t our best option for Prime Minister, she’s yours Jayne

Jayne Ozanne writes in Pink News that Penny Mordaunt is “by far and away the best” candidate and that Jayne believes Penny “is a true champion of all the LGBT+ community”. Which is just wrong. She isn’t our best candidate, she’s yours Jayne. By which I mean semi-wealthy white cisgender queers. She’s got your back, and judging by your endorsement of her after her tirade? Clearly you’re fine with sticking the knife in ours if it means you don’t have to look over your shoulder so much any more.

Equalities Minister Mike Freer’s bumbling resignation as UK Government collapses

I see this for what it is, a cynical political move designed to support the (now successful) ousting of a crap Prime Minister by those like Mike Freer. It has nothing to do with constituents, supporters, LGBT+ people, diversity or Margaret Thatcher’s evil bones. It has everything to do with playing the game and making sure there’s still a Tory party after the end of all this scandal. All so they can all keep their nice cushy jobs blowing smoke up each other’s arses and paying lip-service to their job titles.

What does the Maya Forstater tribunal mean for trans people? (Don’t worry!)

Before Maya Forstater’s case a lot of things were up in the air and every single lawyer, legal expert and asshole with a website like myself was just guessing about how things would work or play out. That’s sort of what law is in general. But now we actually have some definition on the playing field, we’re starting to see the rules take shape and even despite a win; I don’t think the gender criticals will be happy with the results once they set in.

An employee badge attached to a blue blazer. It shows the Halifax logo and reads "Gemma she/her/hers"

Halifax Pronoun Badges & The media’s disastrous attempt to manufacture outrage

So what happened is that a few people on the internet saw Halifax make an inclusive gesture – during pride month, when brands tend to do that sort of stuff – and got upset about it online. The media then got involved to amp up the story and try to make it into a moment by writing about and sharing it widely via their platforms. Which they did entirely for the clicks because they don’t really care one way or another what happens with regards to trans inclusion – they literally just want you to visit their site and share it with your friends for the ad revenue.
