With the UK’s assorted plans for gender recognition act reform largely being dealt with; the media and politicians a quickly turning their attention to demonising trans healthcare instead.

A bill aimed at making the lives of trans people marginally less obstructive has attracted widespread media attention, including with opposition from prominent media figures such as JK Rowling. However the Scottish Gender Recognition Reform has finally passed into law following today’s vote.

Comments by a Scottish MSP during the debate over the Gender Recognition Reform bill have seen Kenneth Gibson accused of hate speech. Mercedes Villalba MSP amongst those levying the claim.

As we hear arguments for and against ammendments for the Gender Recognition Reform bill and the ultimate decision on whether it will pass; the Scottish Parliament public gallery has kicked off.

55 Tufton Street was recently found to be the HQ of anti-trans campaign group LGB Alliance; a fact which they desperately tried to keep hidden from even their own supporters. Trans Writes can now reveal even more links between LGB Alliance, transphobia and Tufton Street.

The trans community have pointed out the LGB Alliance’s use of virtual offices for their ‘official address’ as somewhat sketchy before. With the leak of LGB Alliance’s 55 Tufton Street address before, it seems we were right to be skeptical.

TransLucent, formerly Steph’s Place, announced on Sunday it would be publishing an article regarding being “trans as a biological condition”. Which generated a lot of discourse within the trans community.

A tweet in which the BBC apologises to transphobes for not being transphobic enough has attracted widespread criticism; “you should be better than this”.

Trans Writes is to receive £5,000 in grant funding thanks to LGBT+ Futures: Equity Fund via LGBT+ Consortium and The National Lottery Community Fund. Money which will ensure we can continue to source amazing trans-led content for a whole year.
