Dylan Tippetts for Compton in Plymouth, Kira Lewis for Higham Hill in Waltham Forest, Isla Wrathmell for Vauxhall in London's Lambeth, and Elaine Gallagher in Glasgow were all successful in the vote, earning their place on their local councils.

In a bizarre tweet by the beloved Harry Potter author where she refers to trans rights advocates as "rapist rights activists", all JK Rowling said was "compelling a woman to call her rapist or violent male attacker ‘she’ in court is state-sanctioned abuse" right? Wrong!

If you are transgender and despaired at reading all this, I can only apologise. However, as a community, we will get through it. We are being made the focus of the tory leadership race to distract from the real societal problems such as the cost of living crisis because they have no solutions. The Conservatives have been in power for over a decade, these issues are of their own making. Transgender people existed long before they were elected, and we’ll be around after they leave government. We will win.

When you take away someone’s name, you take away their right to live their life peacefully: their right to work, to study, to interact with others, and even to consume products and services without having to share their personal (and medical!) history with complete strangers.

Our first #TransAwarenessWeek piece is from Carrie Marshall who writes on the need for trans rage after our community was deliberately held back by societies and governments.

There have already been attempts from transphobes to blame this on trans people. We have seen comments wherein people take aim at gender neutral language, such as "people who can get pregnant". The argument being that not using the word "woman" has made things more difficult, confusing and harder to argue. However I haven't used the word "woman" in this piece even once, and don't plan to. It's not only women who require access to abortions and abortions should be accessible for all those who need them.
